Ben Cates has been recreation director since the Rutherford County Conservation Board began sponsoring a county-wide recreation program in 1974. He has served as its one and only Recreation Director for the last 36 years.

Mr. Cates believes the program should support the recreational needs throughout the county and to carry recreation into the communities it serves.
